Grocery Clerk

About the job: Grocery clerk is probably the easiest one of the first jobs for teenagers, but it is supposed NOT to be your future job because robots will soon replace this job position.

Where will you work: At the grocery store, off course, in a supermarket.

What will you do: Stock groceries, answer questions from customers, attach price tags on merchandise, clean display cases, shelves, and also aisles. Job skills / requirements:

  • Must be able to work at evenings or weekends.
  • Enjoy helping and serving others.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Industry: Customer service, retail

Minimum age: Generally 16+. 14 at some grocery stores like Fareway (with restricted job duties, responsibilities and hours of work).

Expected wage: $9-$12/hour.
